there are 2 interesting things that this 510 has...and i'm other 510 too as well....
1. most of the parts uses in the car are metal made like the dashboard trim,dashboard top cover, B pillar cover, and U rubber cover....
2. most of the screws in the car uses philip type screw which made me work as hell to get 'em out. some of 'em left stucked and some of 'em broken into 2. uses on wiper panel, fenders, steeing column cover, dashboards, doors item, horns, headlamps bracket, safety belt and more to list....
this 2 things are strictly different from my starlet......anybody knows why?

Color Me Blind





it's a long weekend to keep the project on....from to christmas day up to new years day. so the project goes with..........
bought new oxy welding set,dismantling the IRS, dismantling the engine parts, strip the paints, dismantle all doors parts, separated the apron that welded together with the fenders, dismatling the dashboard part into pieces, clean the dashboard parts and rework the rear arch....

Beat It
it's beat time......beat the panel and chassis to remove the sand/drymud/debris trapped under the chassis....collected half a pail of them...
planned to take out the engine but pending due to no hands to help so we just took out the front and rear windscreen.....btw, i collected my windscreen rubers and signal lamps from Pokjik yesterday....tq bro...
Brand new brake pump arrived.....taken from datsun 520 pickup model.....will fix later....

Can't Stop This Thing We Started
yeahh.....that's what Bryan Adam said and so goes around us.......ermmm...
last weekend i spent most of the daytime to dismantle other parts that still left.at 9.30 am i started to jackup the car and swap the 13inch rim with 15inch to check the arch clearance on the rear side...looks fine coz the rear suspension is really hard to bounce...
later i found out something really interesting bout this datsun......most of the screws used in it were philip type and most of them are old enough to taken out....very hard to screw out and had to drilled few of them.
then the hardest part was.....the previous owner has welded the fender and lower panel(apron) to the chassis.....damn...took me almost 2 hrs just to take out them....

here are the list of defects found on the car....actually it doesn't matter to me at all coz i can rebuilt/rework it....the only thing do is...the car chassis is still in good shape, using IRS,can pass Puspakom test and can settle name transfer process...and i've already aware bout all the defect and cons before i decided to buy her.

03.left doors can't close. have to tight by wire
04.front and rear reg number is different
05.none of the meter is working

08.rear lamp has changed to nissan sunny

Livin' On A Prayer

remembered when i said my journey to Kuala Lipis was incredible......hehehe....here is the hidden stories.....
01.this is my first time ride to Kuala Lipis so im not familiar with the route

02.when i first arrived there, after checked all the car condition and chat with Pali, i plugged the battery and ask pali where is the nearest petrol station to fill up gas

03.with no experience in K.Lipis route, my wife and I run around the town cluelessly..
04.this 510 has no servo pump, so must frequently pumped the paddle to stop the car
05.nearly kissed a van caused forgot to pump the paddle

06.finally found the petrol station and filled gas
07. moved to Kuala Lumpur.need extra carefull coz have to distance the car to allow me pump the brake. in the same time, the temp gauge needle goes maximum...wtf....
08. take bout 20min to overtake 3 timber lorry in a row
09. hit pothole...the car wobble to the max...damn thought the tyre is puntured....no doubt..the all suspension is all out...and the steering go freeplay bout quater round.....

10.stopped in Dong for lunch and a lil photoshoot and check the radiator...no leak....later found out that all lamps are not working and the wipers too.....

11.stopped in Bentong to refuel and met a friend
12.entered Karak Highway....very scary ride.asked my wife to distance bout 3 cars behind...
13.keep on the left lane. once a bus/lorry passed me, car tends to move to the right...with freeplay steering, i have to encountered many times...
3pm
14.going downhill after Karak tunnel is very adventorous......this is where i have to use all my senses to navigate the car.......coz its heavy rain.....arrrgghhhhh.....
15. drove in heavy rain from Karak tunnel to Gombak R&R stop.....thank god, i made it..
16. have some hot tea with my wife and we plan to go separate....she has to pickup my daughter in kindergarten
17. after the rain go calm, we continue the journey to Puchong...paid the toll....hmmm....
18.once again, i hit the pothole in wangsa melawati area...car go wobble to the max....
4pm
19.its 4pm so its traffic jam time for those who used MRR2 especially in Pandah Indah area
20.stucked in jam in pandan indah....crawling in the middle of heavy rain for about 40mins
21.i must get away from normal route to puchong due to traffic jam so i used KL-Putrajaya highway...
5pm
22yahoo..entered the KL-Putrajaya highway in Seri Petalingand my wife took Kesas Highway
23.stop at the R&R to rest a while and simple photoshoot
24.exit at Putrajaya and took Cyberjaya road...then Pulau Meranti road just to avoid the traffic.
25. arrived at CASPERacing garage at 5.45pm.YAHOOOOOOOO
26.straight away parked inside the garage.....then there goes she rest....
and have u wonder why the title is Livin' On A Prayer?......coz...i've read more than 200 times Ayat Kursi from the beginning of the day till the car is safely arrived in Puchong as my safety guidance and i'm sure everybody has their own guidance too...

Brand New Day
on 1 fine day, I noticed this guy known as scrapman(Pali) is selling a 510 in the www.drift.com.my ad.... the ad had been there for months and the price dropped from RM1850 to RM1000....from the picture attached, the car condition quite bad but it's still acceptable for me to rebuilt...
with cash in hand, i called Pali and asked bout the car....and like my other cars....i will only buy car that can be registered...so here's the deal.....i will pay whatever amount as long as the car can pass PUSPAKOM test....and pay the rest on the day i pick up the car....Pali agreed...
later on.....phone conversation keep on going to update any status of the car between me and Pali...
with cash in hand, i called Pali and asked bout the car....and like my other cars....i will only buy car that can be registered...so here's the deal.....i will pay whatever amount as long as the car can pass PUSPAKOM test....and pay the rest on the day i pick up the car....Pali agreed...
later on.....phone conversation keep on going to update any status of the car between me and Pali...

it all began last 6-7 years ago when i first searching for my first olskool/retro car. in the time where not many people driving an retro ride around here in malaysia and most of my friends still crazy 'doing' their proton wira and iswara, information is limited.
so all i can do is just searching thru the net....then came few list of retro cars.....to name a few, toyota corolla KE70, toyota Corona TT141, datsun B110 pickup, datsun Bluebird PL510, toyota Starlet KP61 and many more....then finally i picked up Datsun Bluebird PL510....
my 1st expirence asking those 510 is from my auntie which has been using the car since my kindergarten years.quite a good condition even a 30++ yer old car....and the reply from my auntie.......NO...
then goes 2nd....a grocery store owner who used it for taxiing stuff from market.....pretty horror condition with 80% rust around......same reply....NO....
then goes 3rd.....a Petronas Engineer from Segamat, Johor who used it as daily tranportation to work....so so condition but with a good reg number......and the answer is......I'LL THINK ABOUT IT FIRST OK......but to me the answer is NO
then goes 4th....after a 30 min 'police & thief' chase, i finally found the 4th 510 used by a site supervisor in Kinrara,Puchong but the answer is.........sob..sob.....(u know it right?)....
after weeks of grief....then i finally bought Toyota Corolla KE70 Wagon as my retro ride.......ends of datsun 510 story...

hi all.....first and foremost...i would like to thank to my wife,daughter and family for a big support on my next project which same as my previous Toyota Starlet KP61's project which requires me to sacrify most of my time treating my new......................Datsun 510....
